Frederiksen is Virden’s Best for February MNP Award

The Virden Oil Capitals have announced thatSoren Frederiksen has been named the team’s MNP Player of the Month for the month of February.

During the 10-game window, Frederiksen had nine points (5 G, 4 A) to be tied for the team’s point lead on the month with Captain, Ben Williams.

What ultimately tipped the decision in Frederiksen’s favour was his impressive 13-game point streak that he carried into Selkirk on February 20th. Before then he had recorded a point in every single game dating back to January 9th. The 20-year-old from East St. Paul, MB was ejected from the game on February 20th which ended his streak. He promptly recorded points in three of the next four games following that to get back on track.

Included in his five-goal month was the overtime winner that Frederiksen scored in Portage on January 16th to give the Oil Caps their first win of the season over the top-ranked Terriers. The Oil Caps top-scorer has received interest from several different schools across North America and it is expected that he will continue his hockey career at the collegiate level next season.
