SEASON TICKETS NOW ON SALE!

The Virden Oil Capitals are proud to announce that season tickets for the 2020-2021 season are on sale now.
With the announcement coming from Hockey Canada that the ban on all sanctioned activities has been lifted across the country, the Oil Caps are beginning preparations to start the 2020-2021 regular season on time. The national ban, which cancelled all sanctioned activities beginning March 12th 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, was lifted by Hockey Canada earlier this month allowing each individual member (Hockey Manitoba and the MJHL) to work with provincial authorities to determine when it is safe to return to the ice. There are still a few uncertainties at this point but the announcement by Hockey Canada was a big step in the right direction.
The Oil Capitals are excited to finally have their season tickets available to the public and feel like bringing junior hockey back to the community in the fall will be an important step to helping Virden and the surrounding area begin to recover from what has been a very difficult time due to the pandemic.
“We are really excited to make the announcement today about putting our season tickets up for sale. Obviously, there are still a few unknowns at this point, but we feel like this is a good step in the right direction. We know that the MJHL has been working hard with Hockey Manitoba to develop a solid ‘return to play’ plan and we look forward to when they are ready make that public. For now, we are planning for a regular start up in September,” said GM and Head Coach Tyson Ramsey. “We understand that our community has endured a difficult time recently, both for individual families and for the business community, but we are excited at the possibility of a hockey season to help bring our community back together safely. I can’t think of a better place than a hockey rink to help with that process.”
Ramsey added that the club feels like it has some unfinished business with the MJHL playoffs being cancelled by the pandemic. “With our promising playoff run cut short last year, our entire organization is eager to try to finish what we started. We are expecting to have a team that is highly competitive and very entertaining for our fan base. We expect to compete for a championship next season.” he said.
The Oil Capitals also indicated there would be some exciting changes to the season tickets for this season. “The early bird pricing, which typically runs until July 31st, will be extended through to August 31st and if you purchase your season tickets before July 31st your name will be entered into draws for a #7 Tanner Andrew game worn jersey, a #8 Tristen Cross game worn jersey and a free season ticket,” said Ramsey.
